My offer disappeared

Almost always because somebody offered after you: a piece holds only one active offer, from anybody.

The likely reason

A piece has at most one active offer at a time, from anybody. When someone places a new offer on it, every previous active offer is deleted — including yours, and including other people's.

Last offer wins. If your offer vanished without being rejected, this is almost certainly what happened.

ACTIVE
An offer while it is active — the badge is its state, the clock is what it has left

The other three reasons

How to tell
It expired Offers last seven days. An expired offer cannot be accepted even if it is still on screen
The owner rejected it You get a notification: Your offer was rejected
The piece is gone It was sold or transferred before you completed. You get The piece you offered on is gone

Was I charged?

Yes, and it is not coming back. The fee is for publishing the offer and is charged when you place it, whatever happens afterwards — rejection, expiry, being outbid or cancelling it yourself.

That is deliberate: an offer that costs nothing to place is an offer nobody has to mean.

What to do

  • Offer again if you still want the piece. There is nothing to clean up first; a new offer replaces whatever is there.
  • Check your notification settings. Offers and auctions is on by default, so if you are not hearing about rejections and acceptances, that category has been turned off.
  • If you are not verified, your "hidden" offer was not hidden. The flag is ignored for unverified users and the offer is stored visible, without warning you.
